Kara Baxter is a jazz artist, violinist, vocalist, composer, arranger and educator.

Kara has taught at Doane University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Hastings College, and Casper College. She is a sought-after clinician for jazz festivals and has worked with jazz bands, vocal jazz ensembles, orchestras, chamber ensembles, and school music programs throughout the region.

Kara accepts a limited number of private students for individualized instruction in violin, voice, songwriting, arranging, composition, improvisation, and music theory. In addition to private instruction, Kara works with elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate ensembles as a guest clinician. She specializes in jazz improvisation, vocal jazz style, contemporary commercial (pop) vocal techniques, harmony and ensemble singing, rhythm section coaching, and a cappella performance. Her clinics are engaging, practical, and designed to inspire musicians at every level.
